There is nothing that compliments beautiful stones as platinum wedding bands. Set as the back drop of a diamond or emerald, the sheen of the platinum accentuates the beauty of the ring without overwhelming the inherent beauty of the stone. Gold is always nice but sometimes the yellow tint can outshine the stone itself. White gold has less of this effect of overshadowing but does not have nearly the durability of platinum. Even stainless steel is a better choice than gold if you will be wearing the wedding ring for a long time, which one would hope is exactly what you will do with a wedding ring.
