Though the gas metal-arc welding demands the usage of constant direct current source, an alternating current hub with steady pattern is also preferable. This technique was primitively used for aluminium but gradually became popular with steel welding as well. An ac is used in the process of gas metal-arc welding along with a inert gas, often carbon-di-oxide to provide a cover over the weld and prevent it from getting corroded away.
