Eulogy for a Spinster Teacher

I remember her as a prim and trim little spinster lady, an elementary school teacher by profession. Miss Anne always looked as neat as a pin and wore the same clothes like a uniform each day. She was always punctual, always prepared, and always cheerful, as if it were required in her contract. One day she didn’t come to school on time. In fact, she didn’t come at all. This was so unlike her that someone was sent to investigate. Apparently she had passed away the night before while reading in her little easy chair. The eulogy was brief. There was not much to say about someone so private, but we all knew that something precious had been lost, and the world would be a little bit poorer as a result.
