What to look for in a contract pilot job

With the focus of most pilots being an airline pilot job, corporate pilot job, or fractional pilot job, is there one pilot career path that is being overlooked?  Contract pilot jobs, especially those overseas, have been appearing even during the lulls in pilot hiring this past decade.  This could be a possible career path for some of the pilots that have been furloughed from some of the airlines that have downsized during the pullback.If you are considering a contract pilot job, you should be aware of the “higher-than-normal” flight-time requirements.  Flight times for many contract pilot jobs are more than double what you may expect, and many require time in the actual aircraft to be flown.
